Summary: Strong point and shoot
Comment: This camera is a strong point and shoot. For the most part, it creates clear, vivid photos, with an easy to use interface.

The flaws are a low zoom (Sony T-100 has 5x instead for 4x), wish it would take photos quicker (certain cameras are known to be faster), struggles in poor lighting.

I would say it could use more manual controls, but in general point and shoots don't offer that. In fact, most of the flaws I listed are common to point and shoots. It's small, takes great photos, and easy to use. A wonderful point and shoot.

Summary: Great Camera!
Comment: The SD850 takes such great pictures and is so easy to use! My only suggestion to Canon for the next development would be a battery level indicator as the 850 lacks any sort of warning until the very last minute, and then it just shuts off. (My solution for this is to have a spare battery and keep it fully charged and handy...I'm looking into acquiring the spare. My husband's solution is to just charge the battery weekly as it holds a charge for lots of photos.)

Summary: Love this camera
Comment: I was wary of Canon because of a slow recovery speed on a previous Canon that the company assured me was working perfectly. It wasn't. But all the reviews said this model was very good and I agree. It's very quick to turn on and shoot as well as continuing to shoot. The on-off button should be larger and maybe located differently, but that is the only drawback I can see. The LCD screen is large and more visible in daylight than many others I tried. A viewfinder was a must for me, but I find myself using the screen as well because it is so clear. It's a pocket camera but has a nice weight to it. The photographs have been sharp and clear. The review and mode changes are at your fingertips and I especially like the icons which in some cases are HUGE so that I can see them without my glasses. I love that! All in all this is a very favorable review. Just get the best price from a reputable company.

Summary: Great camera
Comment: We have purchased and owned and used 6 digital cameras and the Canon PowerShot SD850 IS is finally the one that does not compromise and will fill all our needs for the foreseeable future. The quick on, simple function access, image stabilization, x4 optical zoom, excellent lens quality, perfect ergonmics (pocket fit), view finder, quality video, and the long list of outstanding features at a very affordable price make this the camera to own. The battery holds up well and the flash intensity is adequate (typical for small cameras).
