Summary: YOU'RE GONNA' LOVE IT!
Comment: This camera is easy to use, and the pics are great. I use it to photo my original artwork to send off for prints. The color density and sharpness is noticably improved from my older Easyshare.
I am very happy to report Kodak is improving all the time. That's a good thing!

Summary: Outstanding Value for novice photography
Comment: I purchased this to replace a similarly equipped Fuji camera (I was unhappy with it's usability) This is a great camera! It's 'auto' mode is great for me, where I like point and shoot pictures and it's extended features work great for my daughter who does some near-pro work.

Beautiful colors, clarity and depth that I would have expected to find in an dSLR costing much more. For someone not looking to go quite as far as an SLR, I would highly recommend this!

Summary: fantastic bargain!
Comment: I found this camera on sale at Target (in store, Oct. 2008) for $99 and decided to take a chance. At that price, it can't hurt! And it has been performing like a champ. The video is great, I'm getting lots of great photos -- all without knowing too much about cameras. I'm a point-and-shoot photographer and this camera has definitely improved my game while not requiring me to make a true study of photography.

My only 'negative' comments are things that don't bother me, but might bother others: there is a noise associated with the zoom, even when using the "museum" setting, so factor that in if you're trying to be discreet. The auto focus on the video works great, but in low light, it is constantly refocusing so your videos may have a slight blur here and there. Again, for my purposes, I don't care about that stuff. A GOOD thing about the video is that the mic works really well and the sound is nicely balanced (videos of a live band in a small bar turned out great, where my previous camera would have sounded a little muffled) and you can use the zoom while recording [I think it says in the manual that you can't, but mine does].

I'm really happy with it. The external battery charger is almost required. When I recharge using the USB cable, it never seems to charge fully or last very long. But that is also expected (based on my past cameras). This is my first Kodak in a decade and I'm really happy with it.

Summary: Great camera with an excellent zoom ability!
Comment: I have been using this camera for over a year. It's great to capture action during sporting events, even soccer from the sidelines across a big field. The strong optical zoom is great. The pictures it takes are crystal clear, sharp, and have true colors. The panorama option is incredible. It stitches three photos together seamlessly. Con's: The on/off slider switch is poorly designed. The battery does not recharge in the camera.

Summary: A Really Great Family Camera
Comment: I have owned my Kodak Z-1012 for 8 months now and it has been a super camera. I have not had a single problem with the camera. With care, it is capable of just about any kind of photo.

As a professioal digital camera instructor, I readily recommend the Z-1012 to my students, because of all it can do. When www.kodak.com had their sale I purchased two more Z-1012 cameras. They will go to our two married daughters who are active Moms, who along with their great husbands are raising families. Part of active families, is recording the memories, and this camera, the Z-1012 is a perfect family camera.
