Summary: Kodak is on a Roll with the Easy Share 5500
Comment: I bought a Kodak Easy Share 5500 All-in -one Printer a few weeks ago.I have had a lot of fun with all of the things I can do with it.I have restored bundles of old family photos.I have taken advantage of the color printer by printing countless articles for school and personal use from the Internet.I've also made enlargements of pictures both color and black and white. You can do so much with this combo. One big plus is the price of the ink is relatively cheap. The game the other manufactureres play is that that the price of the printer is cheap. Where they soak you is the price of the ink cartridges. Kodak black cartridge can be had for $9.99.The color is $14.99 . A combo is only $22.99. I found the other brands to be much higher.

Summary: EXCELLENT All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier, and Fax machine by Kodak!
Comment: Solidly built and very effective All-in-One machine. After suffering through 5 Hewlett-Packard printers of almost every price point, I decided to give Kodak a try.

I have not been disappointed. This unit works fantastically.

The comments about its sound though are accurate. If you've seen the movie Walle and noticed all the sounds that robot makes, you'll feel like you're watching or at least listening to a re-run of the movie each time you print. Amazing really, how many sounds this machine makes. Not noise actually, rather a variety of sounds - beeps in several different tones, and nearly musical motor noises seemingly designed by a Hollywood soundman. However, the machine works very reliably and is very inexpensive to operate.

Way to go Kodak! Very nice design and thanks for keeping the print cartridges inexpensive ($25 is all you'll spend to replace BOTH your Kodak ink cartridges). This is an opposite experince of any of my HP printers. I'll never buy another HP anything.

We're using this device with an Apple G4 iMac running OS X (10.4.1) and the download from the Kodak web site gave us zero glitches.

I'm very impressed with the performance and high quality build of this unit.

I strongly recommend purchase of this All-in-One printer.

Summary: High Quality - Low Cost AIO
Comment: I bought this for my wife after seeing a Kodak informercial for the next model down. The low cost of the ink was pretty compelling. But, I wondered how the rest would work. Happy to say, it all works just fine, with the benefit of the low cost of the ink. My wife is pretty impressed with how little ink it uses compared to her prior HP Photosmart Printer. The photo prints are on a part with my Canon MX850 and the text priting is crisp and sharp. Really, no complaints. My wife also tells me that the one time she had problems printing on unusually sized paper that Kodak's Tech Support was very helpful and she had a very positive experience with them.

Summary: doesn't stand up over time & customer service is poor
Comment: This 5500 series printer started out a dream and became a nightmare 4 months after having purchased it. Started getting messages that the printer was jammed.Kept calling customer service to problem solve. That department is outsourced making a bad situation worse. Some customer service folks were helpful, but many were rude and clueless.Spent hours on the phone troubleshooting. It's now 8 mos later,I am throwing the printer away.It frequently stops picking up the paper, the roller grinds and the duplex option stopped working. Did a firmware upgrade with no luck.Since problems still not resolved they decided to send me a refurbished printer w/ printhead and cartridges.I agreed before realizing they no longer make this printer and I can't buy ink cartridges locally anymore.Based on the customer service problems alone it's no more Kodak for me. It's Canon from now on.
